Jeff regularly assists clients in developing, managing, and protecting intellectual property portfolios across a wide range of industries. As a registered patent agent with a degree in Electrical Engineering, Jeff has extensive experience in patent preparation and prosecution, with a focus on electrical, mechanical, computer-related, and artificial intelligence technologies. He works closely with both domestic and international patent offices and routinely helps Canadian clients secure patent protection in Canada and abroad. Jeff has completed specialized training in U.S. and European intellectual property systems to better support clients pursuing global IP strategies.
Jeff’s technical experience covers a broad spectrum of fields, including artificial intelligence and machine learning applications, gaming systems, fintech platforms such as mobile wallets and electronic trading systems, payment technologies, mobile devices, camera systems, cable television infrastructure, wireless communication networks, bandwidth management technologies, and cannabis-related products. He frequently advises clients on the patentability of AI-driven innovations, including those involving data processing, model optimization, and intelligent automation.
In addition to his patent work, Jeff is a registered trade-mark agent and regularly assists clients with brand protection strategies. His trademark practice includes filings, opposition and cancellation proceedings, and clearance searches.
Prior to entering the legal profession, Jeff worked in the electrical and computer engineering sectors, including roles at a major semiconductor company and a global automotive manufacturer.
Jeff is recognized by the Law Society of Ontario as a Certified Specialist in Intellectual Property Law (Patents).
